MEANING OF THE TITLE Diruptio refers to a rupture, the tearing apart of something that can no longer maintain its form or contain the accumulated force within. ABOUT THE WORK A figure emerges in the midst of an uncontrolled burst of energy. The body remains recognizable, but the violence of the painterly gesture penetrates and fragments it through stains, strokes and splashes that turn the surface into a field of tension. The figure is no longer represented solely by the gesture of the figure. It has been dissolved over the entire composition. The pictorial matter acts as a physical extension of its inner state: it strikes, erupts and disorganizes the space until it becomes part of the same convulsion. There is no calm transition towards liberation. It is the pure moment of rupture, when what was once held under control no longer obeys any form of restraint and reveals itself with its full force. Diruptio represents that extreme moment in which emotion, body and environment are absorbed by a single explosion. The intensity is such that the boundaries of the individual disappear, merging its presence with the chaos it has unleashed.
