MEANING OF THE TITLE Commotio refers to a profound shock; a jolt capable of violently breaking an inner state. In the work, the term defines the moment when a seemingly insignificant stimulus reaches someone emotionally exhausted and triggers a chain reaction. It is not the magnitude of what happens, but the state of the person who receives it that determines the intensity of the shock. ABOUT THE WORK A dejected, pained and desperate figure remains sunk within itself. From its own isolation, a bird emerges: a part of its own being, light and almost innocent, which perches on the body to break an already extremely fragile balance. This inner contact triggers an inevitable explosion. What remained compressed inside erupts violently outward, materializing in a second figure that emerges as the absolute release of all the accumulated tension. From that moment on, order disappears. The body, the stains, the brushstrokes and the splashes seem to participate in the same discharge, extending the snock until the space surrounding the figures becomes a state of chaos. Commotio speaks of those moments when a minor event can trigger something enormous, because it finds behind it a burden that had been waiting for too long to find an outlet. The bird, the collapsed body and the escaping figure are, in fact, the reflection of a single individual seeking their own liberation.
