Painting description

A figure in a white dress, turned over her shoulder, appears between the slender tree trunks like a silent glint of light against the cool forest. Her pale silhouette stands out clearly against the misty blues, grays, and turquoises, while beyond the tree line, the large, milky circle of the moon hovers above the bluish mountain ranges. The vertical rhythm of the tree trunks organizes the composition, yet the whole remains soft and slightly quivering thanks to the freely applied paint splatters and the visible, sometimes rough, brushstrokes. This contrast between the delicate face, the luminous white of the dress, and the austere forest background may evoke associations with a moment suspended between sleep and winter dusk. Such a work would be at home in a calm and sparse interior, where its cool palette and vertical composition will resonate naturally.
