Painting description

The painting depicts a wild mountain landscape, as if lifted from some dream just before a storm. On the left, you can see the brightness of creams and muted pinks, and further on, steep rock faces fade into cool blues, grays, and navy blues. The composition is jagged, full of vertical lines, streaks, and thick textures; the paint practically leaps from the canvas. It looks a bit like impasto and an expressive landscape bordering on abstraction. This painting is pleasantly eerie. You can feel the loneliness, dampness, and such unease, but also a strange sense of wonder, seriously. It has something raw about it. For me, this place speaks to the insignificance of man in relation to nature, and the tiny silhouette of a goat somewhere off to the side only reinforces this. A little dark, a little beautiful, it makes you want to look further.
