The transformation proceeds in the opposite direction, both in terms of color temperature and value (chiaroscuro), meaning that the illuminated detail is surrounded by a contrasting halo, and subsequent halos, or glows, repeat rhythmically, fading gradually with increasing distance from that detail. The best painters, in their prime, noticed and still notice this, and not only as layers of contrast, in terms of value (chiaroscuro) and temperature Colors, located to the side of an object or detail, but also perceive even layers located between the object or detail and their eye, the painter's eye.
