One might be tempted to say that “curiosity” has settled in the heart. Are this figure’s thoughts full of joy or sadness? It doesn’t matter. It stirs emotions, and that is beautiful. I wish I could paint like that, because it’s so magical. The painting encourages reflection on one’s own feelings, leaving the viewer with the question: what is hidden... e'ryk: behind this human lot — there lies unspeakable suffering, as if being flayed, or crucified on a cross.
