Painting description
A girl with pigtails, a pretty blonde, a little baby with a doll, in her mother’s shoes, oil on canvas, 65x81 cm, does not require framing, simple, keyed stretcher bars, 2021, a phenomenon—it’s an ordinary painting in which everyone will see something different—nothing more, and its name is, perhaps a bit unfortunately, Animozja. Additional information: this child has many faces, depending on how you look at the painting (tilt your head and you’ll see a different face of Animozja). The doll does too; there’s even a situation where the girl with the doll is lying in bed and hugging it, and then the doll is in the foreground. At times the girl is lovely—you have to see it yourself—at times she’s pensive, but you might also see that she’s sad on a given day, or that she’s staring coldly off to the side. This child has shoes on, perhaps the mother’s shoes, and sits on a chair, but in the mirror you’ll see that it’s actually a bed and that the girl is actually above the doll. The doll, too, sometimes has a serious face and looks at everything from above. This girl sometimes has her eyes closed and then small pretty red lips—and she’s sleeping—but you have to see it yourself. All of this emerged in my painting on its own; I don’t plan such things, because then they wouldn’t work. It’s a phenomenon in itself, and of course nothing grand; my paintings have always been like that and still are.
