Painting description

In the painting we see a surreal scene whose central element is a bizarre building resembling a tower, with many windows emitting an intensely blue light. The building has a red, ragged-tiled roof that contrasts with its brownish walls. Around it hover creatures with large, round eyes and slightly terrifying expressions. What strikes me immediately is the dreamlike quality of this painting. A little boy would say, “I think those little creatures can see me!” The atmosphere is somewhat dark, yet also magical. The aesthetic recalls the works of Franz Kafka, blending reality with illusion. The painting is done in oil, which gives it depth and a vibrancy of color. The use of intense greens and blues in the background adds to the surrealism and a certain unassuming quality. This piece, though somewhat frightening, also arouses curiosity about what secret this tower hides. The creatures’ sad eyes evoke a feeling of being lost, but perhaps it is precisely this discomfort that makes us want to keep looking. I am fascinated by how a single painting can be at once intriguing and slightly frightening.
