Painting description

This painting bursts with movement. Bright oranges, purples, and turquoises explode against a bright background, and through this quivering chaos cuts a dark blue, almost human form, bent, heavy, as if halfway into a gesture and halfway into a fall. The composition is jagged, diagonal, utterly alive, full of quick streaks and nervous lines. You can feel expressionism and painterly gesture here, perhaps even a touch of action painting, because the paint doesn't so much describe as project emotions onto the paper. It's like a dancing monster. For me, the painting carries anxiety, fatigue, and a strange power, dirty but real. It's a little overwhelming, a little hypnotizing. You look at it and get the impression that the artist wasn't painting a form, but a state of mind.
