Painting description

A face composed of thick, black, undulating lines explodes in the painting, as if a sketch and a painterly gesture had collided in a single moment. The background pulsates with yellow, orange, and purple, with tiny blues flashing between them, creating an almost solar explosion effect. The composition is central, yet utterly restless, everything quivers and darts sideways. It looks like a lion on fire. There's a sense of full-blown expressionism here, a quick brushstroke, spontaneous, controlled chaos, a somewhat wild quality. The work exudes energy, but also a strange gravity, like a mask or a deity. Looking at it, I get a little chill, because the painting is both captivating and slightly unsettling. It could speak to power, anger, life, or perhaps simply the pure joy of creation.

The Sun, 1973
