The composition pushes the gaze to the center, then to the edge, and on into the sky. I feel the hush after the storm. It’s a great hole and it looks like a crater. Honestly, it makes you fall silent, because this wound of the Earth rings in your head. The style is expressive, a bit wild, with stumbles of light and streaks like smoke. I keep thinking about the memory of the place, about ruin and fragility. And I wouldn’t go near it, but fascination wins.
