Painting description

The painting is dominated by a soaring clock tower, the muted red of the bricks punctuated by cool blue and gray backgrounds. The vertical composition, streaks of paint flowing like rain, broad impasto oil paint, and light washes create an almost rough texture. Light spills from the fog, orange shimmers reflecting on the wet cobblestones, over which tiny silhouettes glide. The clock is as large as a dragon, and I'm a little afraid of it. The atmosphere is melancholic, but not entirely sad, rather pensive, so London. The style blends impressionism with a hint of expression, controlled chaos. The nervous brushstrokes, with a hint of dripping here and there, create a simple wow effect. I read it as a story about time and loneliness, about a warm spark in the cold of the city. I think to myself, oh my, I'd like to stand there for a moment and listen to the ticking of time. A little crooked, a little splashy, but beautiful because it's real.
