Painting description

Turquoises flow into olive and sandy streaks, and thin lines run through the whole like road maps. The composition is a broad horizon with a slightly tilted stripe of green and vertical lines that hold everything in check. The surface is rough, with abrasions and streaks, in places even raw, as if the paint had been scraped off with a knife. You can feel the impasto and dry strokes, some azure, a bit of sgraffito. The mood is one of drowsy silence after the rain, somewhere by the water. It looks like sea and grass, and I want to run there. A touch of melancholy, but also an airy peace, the kind that calms my breathing. For me, it's a landscape of memory, uncertain and truly intimate. And there you have it, seemingly abstract, yet it evokes images from my childhood. I look and think that the world can fade away, yet the lines that guide us remain.
