Painting description

Horizontal stripes in shades of mint, turquoise, aquamarine, and muted beige, with a touch of brownish green, stretch across the canvas. They resemble layers of tidal sediment, piled one atop the other. Rough impasto and spackle marks mingle with delicately etched lines, grids, and a smear of abrasions. The horizontal composition holds the whole thing together, but every now and then something shifts, a soft flow. The atmosphere is quiet, a bit foggy, like a port out of season, cool but not cold. I feel calm and yet tense, as if something were smoldering beneath the paint, a faint whisper. This is water and grass, and I could run there. The artist scrapes and builds up layers, between the grattage and abrasions, probably acrylic, because the texture is dense.
