Primitivism is a current in art that was born by artists who created from the needs of the heart, often derived from folk culture. What distinguishes this direction is primarily the simplification of forms and an inclination towards extreme realism. They began to be talked about at the end of the 19th century in Paris, where in 1884 the first corner of lovers of primitivism, i.e. the Salon of Independent Artists, was opened. Primitivism is also referred to as naive art. The real flourishing of primitivism in art took place in the first two decades of the 20th century. Today, primitivism in painting is also doing well, which is also visible in our home market, as exemplified by the festival promoting world naive art Art Naif Festivals, which takes place every year in Katowice. Pictures of "primitivists" proposed by the online painting gallery TouchofArt are unique works of well-known and respected Polish and foreign artists. In this category you can find names such as Goszczycka, Cybura, Vaitsekhovich, Dwurnik, Rutkowski, Draszczynski and many others. The themes contained in primitivistic paintings include a fantastic and magical world, but there are also some symbols and details in them. Often, these paintings resemble children's drawings, often characterized by deliberate deformation of perspective and space. The sale of primitive paintings is carried out via the Internet, which allows for the convenience and security of purchasing works of art in this trend. The online painting gallery also allows you to follow your favorite artist's portfolio to expand your collection with another unique work referring to primitivism, but not only.
