Oils on canvas. Ocupies space of 71x71cm (~30×30in) when in diamond position. The canvas is 50x50cm (20×20in). „Twilight Journal” is a tragic story of a guy, that struggles with a rare fatal disease ALS. His body becomes paralysed and he started to write the journal when one of his fingers was still usable. Later on, when the finger gave up, he writes with eye-tracking technology. He lives in a house surrounded by nature and the only thing that he can do is to observe it. The journal is therefore mostly about the seasons changing as he takes notes the whole year through. The journal is a mindful (almost) poetry, written with incredible sharpness. The purpose of this journal is to honor and celebrate the life as it is, as long as he still has this gift of staying alive. It was so easy for me to dive into his landscapes, to soak into every particle of what he describes in detais. I felt like dissolving into the nature together with him. I was listening to the story on yt while I was painting. The story is short so it took only two evenings while the artwork took me around a month. Nevertheless when I look at the finished work I cannot think about anything else but the journey through which I was guided thanks to this huge determination of the dying man. In this painting I registered my amazement, gratitude and appreciation for the story that was shared with me. And the vividness of it definitely represents pulsating life in its energized fullness.
