Contemporary painting is a branch of modern art, which dates back to the first half of the 20th century and the period after World War II. Dadaists are considered the ancestors of this type of art, while many other directions in art also influenced him, including surrealism, abstractionism and constructivism, which then developed trends and movements closely related to them. After World War II, new trends in contemporary painting were also born, including hyperrealism, pop-art and op-art, abstract expressionism or Tachism. A feature of contemporary painting is not only the desire to express the artist's pure aesthetic intention, but also his personality and ideology. The task of contemporary art is no longer just to arouse admiration, but above all to intrigue, make the recipient think and reflect, as well as help in receiving and understanding his own interior and reality. Contemporary painting aims to present on the canvas current threats, problems, but also the hope of the world. In contemporary art, the artist-painter ceased to be just an excellent craftsman, and became an interpreter of the world, a person who seeks answers to the most important questions and strives to clarify doubts and paradoxes about life, man and his surroundings. Contemporary painters usually use oil paints, watercolors and pastels for their work.
