Minimalism is a direction in art that dates back to the early 1960s. He rejected the richness of forms and means of expression that art used and expressed earlier. Pictures painted in the style of minimalism are characterized by the use of basic, simplified solids and shapes (triangle, square, rectangle or circle), the flat surface of the work and references to architecture. The images are harmonious and full of peace, causing the recipient's reflection, prompting him to think and even meditate. They are associated with silence, peace and stillness, thanks to which the viewer can focus primarily on the reception and contemplation of shapes and colors imposed in different intensities. Paintings in a minimalist style are characterized by exceptional precision. Their determinants are avoidance of decorativeness and richness of forms, economical, subdued stylistics and colors (bright colors are limited only to accents). The fascination of industrial production and industrialism is also noticeable in the works of minimalists. This trend was initiated by artists from the United States, which is why to this day a lot of minimalist style paintings have "Dwan Gallery" in Los Angeles. The main representatives of this direction include, among others: Sol LeWitt, Carl Andre, Robert Morris, Donald Judd, Robert Duran and Dan Flavin. On the following pages you will find a wide range of sales of minimalist paintings by Polish and global artists. We invite you to review it.
