A professional artist since 1970, Conrad was born in Poland in 1938 (to German parents) and raised and educated in Germany. He is a graduate from the Graphic Academy in Munich, immigrated to Canada in 1965 and works from his home-studio in Brampton, Ontario. His work is meticulously detailed, yet always with a spiritual undercurrent that draws the viewer in, to become part of the scene — and part of the artist's feeling. He works in watercolour, acrylic or egg-tempera, and although most of his work is done in his studio, he takes weekly breaks hiking in search of new subjects and new inspirations.
Exhibited and collected all over the world, -- here in Ontario his Gallery Representation is: Gallery 737 in Tweed, Ontario and Gallery on the Lake in Buckhorn.
His work has been published by Hallmark Canada, UNICEF Canada, Access Fine Art Ltd. Toronto and Canadian Art Prints, Vancouver, as cards, prints and giclée reproductions.
In 2010 his work was included in two Art-books: “Who’s Who in Visual Art”, Published by “Art Domain Whois Publisher”. Dresden, Germany, and
“Best of Worldwide Water Media Artists”. Published by “Kennedy Publishing”, Williamsburg, VA. USA.
In 1999 Conrad has been awarded “Arts Person of the Year” in his hometown of Brampton, ON.
