The painting represents the Old Town Square in Prague, which with its magnificent architecture is one of the most beautiful historical sites in Europe. Dominating the painting is the great fourteenth century Gothic church - Týnský Chrám with its asymmetrical towers symbolising Woman and Man.
The stormy sky and wet surface of the square are illuminated by the evening Autumn Sun peeping out from behind the clouds. The Sun’s rays gives warmth to the whole scene.
Prague is a cosy and embracing city. When visiting, I felt tranquilised in the informal setting and friendly atmosphere which permeated the place. I hope others will also share my experiences of the city by gazing at this painting.
