An interview. To know our Artist better, we ask them some questions.
And this is what told us Grzegorz Ptak:

For me painting is...
the life... and most of all it’s positive emotions and good fun... Through my paintings I’d like others to share the joy. There’s too much sadness around us... Sometimes even I lack this joy, but this tiny bit which is hidden within me I transform into my canvases.... My creations must bring hope...

Which was the first painting you sold?
”Marzipan and a Rose” my diploma painting

One secret you could share with other artists
After I finished my studies I wasn’t very lucky.... Every hope of getting a job proved to be a failure. We live in a small town, you can’t beat the system here – such provincialism. I didn’t manage to get a job at university, at school or at  the applied art. gallery.... However painting gave me hope and my first real earnings. Is in’t it peculiar that in art. galleries the customers and the people were fascinated by the pictures from the Poverty series – but it was exactly how I had felt then.

I’m inspired by...
Nature and femininity... Wide open spaces. The sky above my head. The moon. Theatre. A thought of having once
a little hut in some mysterious place (along with a flower garden and a vegatable one) and our children will be free like in Bullerbyn instead of spending half a day in front of the computer.

Tell us when you last had a nice surprise
I was nicely surprised by myself today...

A party isn’t good without...
I hardly ever go to parties, but I think that you mean striptease and crisps (laughs)

Do you like nights?
I love them! I work best at night...

I enjoy when...
There’s night. Everybody is asleep, I paint, listen to music, smoke a pipe and I think to myself  ”life isn’t that bad though!”

A cat or a dog?
Both with more of the dog.

If you couldn’t paint any more you...
Would blow up, as my son Franuś says when we’re washing his hair.

Your favourite dish?
Sour soup with dried wild mushrooms

Immortality I would like to spend as...
a dweller of a small house with a garden (full of flowers and vegetables), a dog, a cat, hens, a goat (it’s Mariolka’s idea), a porch and a multitude of wonderful people all around.
